Abstract

Even before the development of information and communication technologies, narratives not only depicted the influences of new media but also were inspired by the audiovisual language of cinema, provoking a different sensory experience for the reader. The nature and language of digital technologies expanded what was first imagined and experimented with in print. To establish continuity between the intermedial presence of the moving image in print narratives and the possibility of accomplishing such an intermedial approach in digital literature, this article examines the influence of the visual aesthetics of cinema in two of Horacio Quiroga’s short stories and a short novel by the Colombian author José Félix Fuenmayor, as well as two Latin American digital novels, Pentagonal: Incluidos tú y yo by Carlos Labbé, and Lagunas by Milton Laüfer.
