Abstract
- In this work we show how a radial electric field can affect the structure of a relativistic star. For this, we assumed that the star is spherically symmetric. We see that this kind of electric field introduces a change in the gravitational force generated by the star, and consequently in the structure of the star. We also assume that the pressure caused by the electric field obeys a polytropic equation of state, and then we derive an equation analogous to the Lane — Emden equation for a charged polytropic star. © 2004 American Institute of Physics [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
