Abstract
- Even though functions of multivariate correlated non-light-of-sight (NLoS) fading under selection combiner (SC) deployment have long been available, those of multivariate correlated line-of-sight (LoS) fading for any-diversity deployment have been scarce in the current literature. Using a set of non -zero-mean equal-variance Gaussian random variables, maximal ratio combiner output functions of multivariate equal-correlated (equ.c.) generalised-Rician fading—which includes LoS for even degrees of freedom (DoF)—are derived in this paper. The new functions, governed by their LoS power and DoF, generalise those of multivariate equ.c. Nakagami- m , and Rician fading under specific conditions. Cross-verification is performed using selection combiner output functions of multivariate equ.c. generalised-Rician fading when diversity is not applied, which shows exact matching of the new findings to existing findings, and hence validates this research. Outage probability, ergodic channel capacity, and amount of fading under multivariate equ.c. generalised-Rician fading employing maximal ratio combining (MRC), and SC are then studied. Benefits of MRC and SC under several scenarios will be shown, of which the effectiveness, trade-off between DoF and LoS power will be elaborated. Monte Carlo simulation is shown to match theoretical predictions. The new findings fundamentally progress the theory of correlated fading, which has long relied on SC for advancement.
