Abstract

The article presents a case in which the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a jury unanimity requirement as established in Ramos v. Louisiana is not applied retroactively. In the case Edwards v. Vannoy, teenager filed for federal habeas relief after being sentenced by a Louisiana jury for the crimes of armed robbery, rape and kidnapping to life imprisonment without parole.
