For the selection and application, a classification of the fire behaviour and the fire resistance class is required. Since the classification cannot be investigated for all applications, verified extrapolation rules are required to provide a classification based on the building application. As part of a research program which was conducted by the Versuchsanstalt für Stahl, Holz und Steine of the KIT, walls made of sandwich panels with a mineral wool core were tested and the test results were compared with the extrapolation rules of DIN EN 15254‐5 and suggestions for extrapolation based on the test results were developed.
