Abstract
- The article explores the memorials of World War I in England. It mentions the popularity of the temporary Cenotaph memorial designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in Whitehall which led to its reconstruction in Portland stone. Also described is a sculpture of a soldier in the act of throwing a grenade by Adrian Jones at Bridgnorth, Shropshire. It cites the sculptures within village churches including one which depicts Edward Horner of Mells Manor at the village of Mells, Somerset.
