Cold treatment promotes in vitro germination of two endangered Lachenalia species.

• Cold treatment enhanced in vitro germination of L.viridiflora and L.doleritica seeds. • Differences in seedling parameters between genotypes were found. • The results relate to the issues of wild Lachenalia propagation and conservation. Lachenalia viridiflora and L. doleritica seed germination under in vitro conditions is presented. The authors wanted to morphologically verify how these species germinate after cold treatment.
