Abstract
- The article focuses on the predictors for a high trough apixaban level in older patients with atrial fibrillation prescribed with reduced dose of the drug based on an analysis of a registry of patients in Japan. The analysis discovered the relation between reduced dose and bleeding that required hospitalization. Among the independent predictors are female gender, creatinine clearance and heart failure. Also noted is the anti-Xa assay needs of patients with three or more risk factors.
