Abstract

The literature on the activity of the driving instructor suggests the presence of an effective dual task, including a management of the driving environment and a training activity (Vidal-Gomel & Rogalski, 2009). The study presented in this paper aims to understand how the complexity of the road environments would impact the activity carried out in the training task. So, we compared two types of environments (i.e., «complex environment» and «non-complex environment») in relation to three components of the Instructor's training activity (i.e., execution activities, relational activities and correction activities). The main results show that the driving instructor prefers to implement a specific component of the teaching activity, depending on the type of environment encountered in the driving lesson.
