Abstract

The paper presents the development of parameter-based criteria for application of the highly impulsive noise adjustment, which can be the extension to the approach described in standard ISO 1996-1:2016. All calculations in paper are based on the highly impulsive noise example - collision of the train cars. The research material was a record of data collected during two months of continuous noise monitoring, followed by statistical analysis of the subject. The classification based on the analysis of exposure levels was compared with the objective method proposed by the authors, based on the analysis of the distinctive characteristics of impulsive noise: impulsiveness of a given event and its rise time. As a result, three types of impulsive events: clear, masked and weak impulses were proposed with recommendation of criteria when to apply the impulsive adjustment in relation to time of a day.
