Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the relationship between maternal mortality and the violation of women's human rights by the Venezuelan State. To that end, the status of the issue of maternal mortality, the international covenants and instruments regulating human rights signed by the Venezuelan State and the relevant constitutional provisions were reviewed; Similarly, the programmes and measures taken by the Venezuelan Government in the current century. The documentary review shows that maternal deaths in general are avoidable and are an indicator of social inequality and gender inequality. Venezuela does not escape this reality; the figures show a progressive increase in maternal mortality and thus a violation of the right to life, health and non-discrimination of Venezuelan adolescents and women.
