Abstract

The article focuses on the significance of law reforms affecting field trials of crops gene-edited for environmental and nutritional benefits in England in 2021. Topics discussed include the legislation plan of the British government that will treat gene-edited crops and livestock mimicking natural breeding differently than genetically modified (GM) crops, brief information on gene editing, and removal of the licensing impediments facing laboratories in the field trial of gene-edited crops.
