Abstract

The article focuses on security interests in mobile equipment of interstate carriers. Security interests in mobile equipment of interstate carriers raise a variety of problems to which state courts and legislatures have offered diverse and sometimes conflicting solutions. The result is often uncertainty and added expense for those who must deal with the carriers. The federal government has sought to remedy the situation by creating recording systems for security interests in three types of equipment--ships, planes, and railroad rolling stock.
