Abstract

As the tumor invaded the elastin fibers, which appeared to derive from the outer longitudinal muscle layer (Figure 1d), and invaded the adipose tissue of the subserosa (Figure 1b), invasion depth was regarded as subserosa. This tumor may invade the subserosa easily due to the lack of muscularis propria, which would be a barrier to tumor invasion of the subserosa. Segmental defects of the intestinal muscularis propria have been extensively reported in the pediatric population as a cause of intestinal obstruction or perforation.1 The diagnosis is based on pathological observation of segmental defects of the intestinal muscularis propria.
