Abstract
- The article analyzes the depiction of tearing, stitching and quilting as abolition poetics in films by Garrett Bradley. Topics discussed include the gesture of destruction and repair portrayed by an African American woman in the 2019 experimental short film "America," role of the omission and scarcity of surviving African American film and a 2013 Library of Congress report in the short film, and use of interplay between temporalities as site of possible change in "America" and "Time."
