Abstract
- Considering the importance of interviews with children to investigate mathematical knowledge, here we have an essay to discuss and analyze the relationships between epistemology and methodology in the process of production of data for research. In this article, our goal is to highlight the relationships between epistemological foundations and ways to elaborate questions, asking and interpreting children's answers. We discuss about nuances, mishaps and particularities of the interviews with children and presented as a qualified approach the clinical interview and the Piagetian clinical method. The syntheses indicate the importance of using appropriate tools to investigate the mathematical object, as well as considering the particularities of the children's universe and the epistemic-methodological coherence adopted by the researcher.
