Abstract

This article approaches, based on a historical-interpretative analysis of primary sources and images of temples built during the history of immigration, the gradual evolution of the construction of places of worship by evangelical European immigrants in the colonization areas, which actually corresponds to the process of economic development in the colonies. As a background for the analysis of the construction of massive churches in a third stage of development, which from contemporary images shows similarity to the normative model of church building in Prussia, it was necessary to first present the reasons and objectives of the king's religious policy Prussian, the resistance movement of some communities and groups and how much the confessional differences can be perceived in the configuration of the temples. In this sense, the objective of this article is to exemplify how the intervention of the Prussian State in the liturgy, confessionality and the building of churches in its territory influenced, directly or indirectly, the building of temples and the confessional expression of immigrants and their descendants in Brazil.
