Abstract
- In the article I Transnational Urban Meanings: The Passage of "Suburb" to India and Its Rough Reception i , "suburb" was endowed with the political meaning, which officially means the counterpoint of "slum". In the first part, a homeownership programme like Ciudad Kennedy (CK) under the Alliance for Progress in Bogotá, and the resettlement scheme after slum clearance in Manila, witnessed the urban transition of the developing countries in the 1960s.
