The article discusses about the female lyricists Dorothy Fields and Carolyn Leigh who gained success in writing musical comedy scores, songs for movies, and free-standing pop hits. Topics of discussion includes Fields also wrote the books for Broadway shows with her brother Herbert while Leigh only wrote lyrics for her pop songs, written with the jazz pianist-composer Cy Coleman.
