Abstract
- The article provides an overview of Léopold Sédar Senghor's African cultural policy. It mentions that that state cultural policy in post independence Senegal shared recognizable features with parallel testing grounds for socialist cultural policies elsewhere on the African continent. It also mentions about his role in reserving state in promoting the arts and other forms of cultural production, in putting cultural programs to work to achieve economic development and social cohesion, and modernising indigenous heritage.
