Abstract
- The consumer guarantees are separate from the manufacturer's warranty and may still apply even if the warranty attached to the product has already expired. We told Jon that unfortunately there are no legal standards on how long a product should last, but under Australian Consumer Law goods purchased come with automatic guarantees that they are of "acceptable quality", meaning they should be safe, durable and free from defects for a reasonable period of time. We suggested Jon write a formal complaint to the retailer, mentioning that he believes the dishwasher does not meet the consumer guarantee of "acceptable quality". [Extracted from the article]
