Abstract

In order to study the performance degradation of concrete-filled steel tube under the complex environment of high-altitude coastal areas, 20 concrete-filled steel tubes under axial compression under the combined action of freeze-thaw, salt spray, and freeze-thaw-salt spray were tested to compare different freezing conditions. Axial compression performance of concrete-filled circular steel tube stub columns under melting times and degree of corrosion. The test results show that the axial compression bearing capacity of the concrete-filled circular steel tube short column has a linear decreasing relationship with the degree of action of the three environmental conditions. The combined effect of freeze-thaw and salt spray on the peak load of concrete-filled steel tube is less than the superposition of the freeze-thaw cycle and salt spray corrosion alone. The effect of the three environmental conditions has no obvious relationship with the peak displacement of the specimen, but it will reduce the ductility coefficient. When freeze-thaw and salt spray work together, the constraint coefficient does not change significantly. This is due to the combined effect of the outer steel pipe and the core concrete, which can effectively reduce the performance degradation caused by environmental factors. The proposed calculation formula for the bearing capacity of concrete-filled circular steel tube short columns considering the effects of freeze-thaw cycles and salt spray corrosion is in good agreement with the experimental results.
