Abstract

The density of foam concrete generally varies from 350-1900 kg/m3, but whereas the standard concrete density varies from 2200-2400 kg/3. This reduction within the weight of concrete results in a reduction of self-weight of the structure. Foam concrete, with restricted densities a number of building components can be replaced. The reduced density of concrete leads to lower strength when compared to standard concrete. Therefore, in these study different quantities of polypropylene fibers and Nylon fibers are used for the improvement of physical properties, and mechanical properties. In this report, foam concrete with density 1800 kg/m3 is prepared and the foam concrete is blended with different quantities of Polypropylene fibers and Nylon fibers. Different mix proportions were prepared to get the required density of foam concrete and thereafter tested for workability, plastic density, dry density, water absorption %, compressive strength were reported.
