Abstract

The purpose of this research was to design a virtual laboratory in a Labview programming environment for training in the automation area of the Alonso de Ojeda University, in order to develop competencies in students studying engineering in the area described as automation and control. of processes. The study was based, from the theoretical point of view, on the author Lajara Vizcaíno and Pelegri (2007). Regarding the methodological aspect, based on the postulates of Arias (2012), Tamayo and Tamayo (2004) and Méndez (2001), this research was projective, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional field design; The population was made up of 4 active teachers at the university with knowledge related to the subject, which is considered a finite population, so it was worked as a population census. The data collection technique and instrument applied was the interview guide that did not require validation. The data analysis and processing technique used was content analysis. As a result of the application of the instrument, it was determined that there is a weakness in relation to the practical competencies of the students in the computer school, due to the lack of virtual laboratories for training in Labview; The technical and economic requirements to cover this need were also determined. Finally, the objective of developing a system for academic purposes was met that allows strengthening training in the automation laboratory and at the same time generating practical skills in students in the area.
