Abstract
- The article examines the decline of democracy in Hong Kong under the Chinese government. Topics discussed include the inevitability of the handing over of Hong Kong to China by the British government, implication of the forced closure of the pro-democracy newspaper "Apple Daily" after the imprisonment of its founder Jimmy Lai, and claims of the former member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council Nathan Law on the weaponization of identity by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
