Discusses the origin of the maxim "Ignorantia juris non excusat, ignorantia facti excusat" and the scope of its influence in criminal jurisprudence. Extent to which the decisions referring to it are founded upon general principles; State of the law today regarding ignorantia juris and ignorantia facti as defenses to criminal prosecutions.
