Abstract

[Objective] The aim was to explore the variation of appearance quality traits of early generation scented lines of japonica aromatic rice by two methods of hybrid breeding and radiation mutation breeding, and explore the selection of appearance quality traits of scented offspring. [Method] The F2 generation population of the fragrant rice variety Yanjing 939, the non-scented rice variety Fuxiang, and the M2 generation population of the fragrant rice variety Yanjing 939 60 Co-γ irradiated with Co-γ rays were used as the research materials. Carry out the analysis of scent traits and appearance quality traits. [Results] The aroma of Yanjing939 was controlled by a pair of recessive genes. The aroma strains in the F2 population of Yanjing939 ×Fuxiang accounted for 25.7% of the total population. The aromatic strains in the M2 population induced by radiation of Yanjing939 accounted for 64.5% of the total population. In terms of grain length, grain width, grain thickness, transparency, chalky grain rate, and chalkiness traits, the coefficient of variation and diversity index of fragrance plants in the F2 population ranged from 3.45% to 90.81%, 0.343 to 0.457, and the average values ​​were respectively It is 28.28% and 0.426. The coefficient of variation and diversity index of fragrance strains in the M2 population were 2.66%-81.36% and 0.389-0.438, with the average values ​​being 27.80% and 0.409, respectively. Principal component analysis showed that, compared with M2 generation fragrance strains, the appearance quality traits of F2 generation fragrance strains were quite different. The canonical correlation analysis shows that the aromatic strains can achieve the purpose of improving chalkiness and transparency through comprehensive selection of grain types. [Conclusion] Hybrid breeding and radiation mutagenesis have different characteristics in the selection of scented rice varieties. The appearance quality traits of early generation scented lines of hybridization and radiation mutagenesis show corresponding changing trends under the influence of their parents. The results can provide a basis for the selection of breeding methods and the improvement of appearance quality traits in the selection and breeding of fragrant rice varieties.
