Abstract

Smart cities, which emerged as a result of developments in information and communication technologies, aim to facilitate human life and provide sustainable human settlements with various practices. The subject of the study is the relationship between the smart city practices developed by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and the United Nations (UN) 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) aiming to ensure sustainability. The purpose of the study is to interpret the relationship between the 2030 SDGs of smart city practices implemented by IMM at local scale. "Is it possible to establish a relationship between the 2030 SDGs and IMM's smart city practices?" is the question of the study. The assumption of the study is that there is a relationship between the 2030 SDGs and IMM's smart city practices. In the study qualitative research method was used. "Content analysis" was used for the analysis of the data. The study is important in terms of its unique position in the literature since it is the first study in the literature in which smart cities are directly associated with SDGs. As a result of the study, a total of 17 SDGs and 47 smart city practices, 27 of which are mobile developed by IMM, were associated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
