Abstract
- The goal of the present paper is to disclose three different ways to determine the heat transfer rate in annular fins of rectangular profile employing the fin efficiency concept. The first way is evaluating the exact, analytical equation accounting for four modified Bessel functions I 0(X), I 1(X), K 0(X), K 1(X), the second way is employing the fin efficiency diagram designed by Gardner and the third way is evaluating the one-term empirical correlation equation developed by Schmidt.
