Walt Whitman is known mainly as a poet, as one of the great poets that gave the New America of the nineteenth century. But in 1871 he wrote Democratic Perspectives, a text that despite having a poetic language, is a clear manifestation of his political thought. We will take this essay as a reference to provide a reading that will bring us closer to the political thinking of the author and, in addition, we will go to other authors, other Whitman texts and our own understanding to complete the writing.
