Abstract

The present paper aimed to reveal the effects of biochar addition on spring wheat yield and nitrogen use efficiency. 【Method】Taking the representative spring wheat field in Ningxia Irrigation Area as the research object, and using Ningchun 55 spring wheat as the test material, a random block test design was adopted, with no nitrogen fertilizer(N0), single nitrogen fertilizer(N), straw + nitrogen fertilizer(NS) and biochar + nitrogen fertilizer(NB) treatments. The aim was to clarify the effects of different fertilization types on soil properties, wheat yield and nitrogen use efficiency in spring wheat fields.【Result】Both NB and NS could increase the content of organic carbon and total nitrogen in surface soil to different extents. Among them, NB treatment had the best effect. Compared with N0, NB could significantly increase the total phosphorus content in soil and the pH of 20-40 cm soil value, soil available potassium content, and reduce soil electrical conductivity content. N, NB and NS could significantly increase spring wheat yield by 15.8 %-35.2 % compared with N0 treatment, of which NB treatment had the most significant effect; NB could increase crop nitrogen use efficiency by 122.8 % and 92.9 % compared with N and NS.【Conclusion】In Ningxia Yellow River Irrigation Area, biochar combined with nitrogen fertilizer can effectively increase soil nutrient content and soil enzyme activity, thereby significantly improve spring wheat grain yield and nitrogen use efficiency.
