Abstract

This paper problematizes the incorporation and development processes of agroecology in land reform areas proposed by the main Brazilian country socioterritorial movement, the Landless Worker's Movement (known in Portuguese as MST). For this purpose, we analyze agroecological practices at Herdeiros da Terra de 1º de Maio rural camp, located in the cities of Rio Bonito do Iguaçu and Nova Laranjeiras, state of Paraná, Brazil. Through participant research, interviews and documental analysis, this article details how agroecology has been built within the camp's territorial reorganization process. This text observes a fundamental step for agroecological consolidation in land reform areas, given that previous experiences, from the period of occupation, guide the production systems developed after the land was obtained. Despite the difficulties for agroecological territorialization, this research identified its permanence through five years of camp, as well as a potential to agroecological practices consolidation, considering territorial resources and subjects' interests, in the case the area is intended to land reform.
