The University of Paraná was created in 1912 by a group of intellectuals who originated in the political field. Despite its initial success, this first university was soon dismantled with the Colleges returning to their original condition. Due to the changes in the original project, the intellectuals gathered to seek political support to discuss the higher education strengthening in the State. Thus, the main objective of this text is to analyze the action of distinct personalities that worked for the consolidation of the University of Paraná, based on information extracted from newspapers, minutes and yearbooks along with Bourdieu's concepts, mainly the field of power notion and prosopography.
