Abstract

In Brazil, according to reports from the National Petroleum Agency - ANP, up to 2017, 41,984 automotive fuel dealer outlets were registered, showing that a big amount have leakage problems causing contamination of soil and groundwater, as well as occupational exposure to hydrocarbons. BTEX compound (benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and xylenes) has been a major concern due to health problems resulting from direct and indirect ingestion. The objective of this work was to characterize the scenario of technologies used in the manufacture of low pressure tanks by outlining the methods that seek to promote tightness during its use. Data were collected by patent mining and subsequent prospecting in the Questel Orbit database. The presence of 67 industrial patent registrations directly related to the process that aim to prevent the leakage of the internal organic fluid to the low pressure tanks used in fuel resale stations was observed, with main codes of the International Patent Classification (IPC) B60S-005/02 (13 Records) and G01M-003/26 (13 Records), the main areas of study being Engineering and Transportation.
