Abstract

The article focuses on Georgetown University is planning to offer reparations to the descendants of the 272 slaves the Jesuit-run school sold in 1838 to pay its debts. Topics include Christian institutions to pursue reconciliation and repair with black Americans, confession of guilt and forgiveness to repair racial divisions, and the role of Catholic Church in American society.
