Notes from the Field: Update on Excess Deaths Associated with the COVID-19 Pandemic - United States, January 26, 2020-February 27, 2021.

The article presents an update on the number of excess deaths linked to the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S. from January 2020 to February 2021 as per the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). The NCHS used data from the National Vital Statistics System (NVSS) in determining excess death figures. Also cited are the limitations of the study like the possible underestimation of deaths due to reporting lags.
