Abstract

BACKGROUND: Skin reactions secondary to tattoos are relatively frequent and have a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations. The most common complication is the lichenoid reaction, whose treatment in a number of times ends up being discouraging. Currently, there is scientific evidence that suggests the use of subcutaneous low molecular weight heparins in the treatment of lichen planus, but there are no reports in which heparin derivatives have been used topically in lichenoid reactions. CASE REPORT: A 32-year-old male with 6 months history of pruritic lesions on a black ink tattoo made 18 months ago. A skin biopsy was performed confirming a lichenoid reaction. Topical heparinoid was administered with good results. CONCLUSION: Administration of topical heparinoid may be one more alternative in the treatment of lichenoid reaction secondary to tattoos.
