Abstract

The article shows that poet John Milton and theologian John Owen remained hostile to one another across the duration of their careers and did not exercise any kind of positive mutual influence. Topics discussed include Milton and Owen's spiritual biography, Owen's rejection of the theological ideas of Milton, and Milton's experimentation with unorthodox doctrines. Also mentioned are Milton's "Paradise Lost," Owen's interest in angelology, and his admiration of Milton's achievements.
