Abstract

This article is the result of the results of the master's thesis entitled "the process of closing schools in the countryside in the mesoregion of eastern Goiás: what crime is this that continues?" The objective of this study was to analyze the arguments used by the State to close the Boa Esperança Municipal School in the town of Boa Esperança, located in the municipality of Damianópolis, state of Goiás. Schools in and in the countryside are important for farmers to recognize their identity and strengthen their actions. With the closure of the school in the countryside, he realizes that the territory of the peasantry weakens due to the expulsion of these subjects and in return strengthens other territories. This school is one of hundreds that are closed every year in Brazil, forcing these subjects to attend the school in the city that is not concerned with cultural identity and that has even shown a prejudiced attitude about them. When studying at the city school, he generates tiredness, demotivation, insecurity, and is subjected to dust, mud, and hours on the road. It was important to conduct field research with observation, interviews and conversations and, based on the data, found that there is a disregard for the Brazilian State in relation to peasant communities.
