Abstract
- This paper examines the Diccionario del español jurídico ('Dictionary of Legal Spanish', DEJ), providing information on its origin and setting in the 18th and 19th centuries (a succinct reference to non-academic lexicography is incorporated), and traces the development and history of the first academic lexicographic work up to the present. The macrostructure and specifically selected Latin maxims are analyzed with the forms that they can adopt in the lemmata or within the articles, and data contained in the corresponding encyclopaedic information are discussed. An ANNEX is included with 489 Latin legal maxims from among those contained in the DEJ, which are here printed in roman and bold characters (personal or non-personal verbs, as well as segments without an express verbal predicate [which constitute "minimum units of predication"], are here expressed or omitted).
