Abstract
- Although more and more precise and efficient methods of scientific research regularly arise, inhibitory analysis still remains far from being the least among the extensively used experimental approaches. Many current investigations aplly chemical inhibitors of photosystem II as instruments of scientific cognition. Novel chemical inhibitors are being screened, educed, and/or designed. New effects of the already known inhibitors are being discovered and/or significantly corrected. The review presents the generalized information on both the known inhibitors, such as diuron (3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,1-dimethylurea), dinoseb (6‑sec-butyl-2,4-dinitrophenol), and ADRY agents (agents causing Acceleration of the Deactivation Reactions of the water-splitting enzyme system Y) and recently revealed chemical inhibitors of PSII (derivatives of perfluoroisopropyldinitrobenzene and metal-organic complexes). The action of carbonic anhydrase inhibitors on a photochemical activity of PSII is also discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
