Abstract
- Densities and speeds of sound for the binary liquid mixtures of tri-n-butylamine with three solvents, namely 1-propanol, 1-butanol and 1-pentanol are measured. The measurements were done over the entire composition range at temperatures from 293.15 to 308.15 K with an interval of 5 K and at atmospheric pressure. Experimental data were used to calculate various thermodynamic parameters like excess molar volumes ( V m E ), excess isentropic compressibilities ( κ s E ), deviations in speed of sound ( u D ), apparent molar volumes ( V φ ), partial molar volumes ( V ˉ m ) and excess partial molar volumes ( V ˉ m E ). Intermolecular interactions present in these mixtures were studied with the help of the calculated data. Studies on Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy were also done to support the conclusions. Redlich–Kister type polynomial was used to correlate the various excess and deviation parameters to the compositions. Further, the Jouyban–Acree model was used to correlate densities and speeds of sound data with the compositions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
