Abstract
- The Partit Socialista d'Alliberament Nacional dels Països Catalans (PSAN) was a pro-independence and marxist political party that defended the creation of the Socialist State of the Catalan Countries. The analysis of the party during its most relevant stage, between 1969 and 1980, allows us to follow the genesis and evolution of a political space, Esquerra d'Alliberament Nacional, in the years of late Francoism and transition. Although the party did not achieve any of the strategic objectives that had been proposed, it stood out for the ideological influence it later had in many other Catalan political forces.
