Abstract

In this article we examine the concept of nation elaborated by the Jewish philosopher Martin Buber. It shows how he developed a position equidistant both from the project of a political power that led to the creation of the State of Israel away from Jewish spirituality, and to live that spirituality away from the commitment of the people to create a terrain where experience of the Kingdom of God. This historically meant positioning itself between the positions of Theodor Herzel and Hermann Cohen. Buber's thesis also distances itself from the concept of nation advocated by German idealism. Finally, Buber's position contrasts with the view of the subject of other phenomenologists with whom he has similarities and differences. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
