Abstract
- In Example 2, HT <math display="inline" overflow="scroll" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><msub><mi>k</mi><mrow><mi>r</mi><mi>s</mi></mrow></msub></mrow></math> ht should be 0.849 instead of 1.52 as reported in the paper, HT <math display="inline" overflow="scroll" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><msub><mi>I</mi><mrow><mi>p</mi><mi>s</mi></mrow></msub></mrow></math> ht should be 0.021 instead of 0.032 as reported in the paper, and HT <math display="inline" overflow="scroll" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><msub><mi>K</mi><mrow><mi>p</mi><mi>r</mi></mrow></msub></mrow></math> ht should be recalculated after revising the HT <math display="inline" overflow="scroll" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><msub><mi>K</mi><mi>r</mi></msub></mrow></math> ht in the equation from 18,816 to HT <math display="inline" overflow="scroll" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mn>2,950</mn><mtext> </mtext><mi>kN</mi><mo stretchy="false">/</mo><msup><mi mathvariant="normal">m</mi><mn>3</mn></msup></mrow></math> ht (after performing the previous revisions). The authors have established a simplified method to predict settlement of piled raft foundations using a finite-element-derived database and statistical methods. In Example 1, HT <math display="inline" overflow="scroll" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><msub><mi>k</mi><mrow><mi>r</mi><mi>s</mi></mrow></msub></mrow></math> ht should be 1.308 instead of 1.89 as reported in the paper and HT <math display="inline" overflow="scroll" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mi> </mi><mi>p</mi><mi>r</mi></mrow></math> ht should be 0.525 instead of 0.475.
