Abstract

Rail safety remains a concern for society. Trainpedestrian accidents annually demand billions of dollars in direct and indirect costs. Not to mention the incalculable human factor that each tragedy represents. Thus, this paper aims to research about the profile of injured, such as the factors that cause train-pedestrian accidents and preventive measures to reduce these incidents. This study is a bibliographical research of didactic experience that seeks to alert the society about the need to carry out studies on the subject, which still lacks related research. It is identified from this review that the majority of train-pedestrian accidents involve men, adults, healthy and of low socioeconomic level. Among the factors that most propitiate this accident are suicide, lack of attention and the consumption of alcohol, medicines and/or drugs. In addition, the results expressed here seek to provide the basis for further studies on the subject, as well as to indicate the critical points that deserve attention and the main prevention measures such as punishment, education and communication.
