Abstract

The cities expansion as a territory anthropization implies impacts in the land use dynamics. This occurs through the interaction of affected natural and semi-natural systems and can be detected in the substitution of land cover. The space in which it intensifies is the interface. A complex construction of the interface concept will serve to identify variables of high intensity of interaction involving territorial impact. The objective of this work was the critical review of research that enabled identification of such variables for their spatialization. A total of 68 papers, produced since the industrial revolution, were reviewed using 3 approaches: urban, rural and natural. The systematization was carried out through statistical software that determined common elements and relationships between definitions. The results indicated that most of the current theories come from American countries and India, and that the European papers were published 10-15 years earlier than these. The greatest amount of production on interface analysis is still associated with Urbanism. Furthermore, relevant variables were highlighted that located the phenomenon between the urban and regional scales from the territorial approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
