Abstract

The connection between international trade and logistics arises from the need to move and store merchandise quickly and reliably. It is possible to talk about a mutual relationship between these two sectors as logistics activities facilitate international trade transactions and international trade forces to strengthen logistics economy and activities. In this paper, it is designed to determine the nexus between sectors and to determine which sector's development caused the development of the other based on different variables. In this context, the panel cointegration and panel causality analyzes were compared with the infrastructure expenditures of the countries with logistic aspect of the study on the highways, railways, airlines and seaways and the current account balance data used to represent the international trade of these countries. According to the results obtained, it is determined that the current account balance and all infrastructure expenditures are cointegrated in the long run. On the other hand, there is a two-way relationship between rail infrastructure expenditures and the current account balance, and there is a one-way causality from the current account balance to the highway expenditure.
