Knowledge and Awareness of First Aid Among Parents.

Child accidents are among the world's leading causes of morbidity and mortality. Thanks to the increasing rise in female involvement in the labor force, the need for out of home care for children has risen considerably. All children have the right to a healthy environment and caregivers must also be trained and capable of caring for children in day care centres. This study aims to identify caregivers' knowledge that affects safety and injury prevention awareness among parents. A cross sectional questionnaire study design was carried out among 115 participants predominantly south indian population. Simple random sampling method was used to gather information using validated self constructed, self administered questionnaires. Data were analyzed by SPSS using descriptive statistics and chi square tests. In our study, it was found that most participants of monthly income 25k and 25k to 50k had insufficient knowledge of child injury prevention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
