Abstract
- Discusses how counterfeiters use of scanners, color printers, and publishing software to develop counterfeit tickets to NFL football games, concerts, and other major sports events. Efforts of sports arena managers to use security devices such as bar codes and glow-in-the-dark images to help solve the problems; Identification of 300 counterfeit tickets among Philadelphia Eagles fans who were stopped at the gate during the home opener against the Giants at Lincoln Financial Field; Ability of the scanning systems to detect tickets with made-up codes or codes which have already been flagged; How services such as Ticketmaster e-mails tickets as portable document format files to customers who print out the tickets and bring them to the event.
